2019 Health Literacy Interprofessional Conference.

This conference features a 4-hour workshop conducted by Sabrina Kurtz Rossi, a nationally recognized health literacy expert in health literacy training. Anyone who communicates with consumers regarding health care will find this workshop to be beneficial to their work.
The Keynote speaker, Dr. Russell Rothman from Vanderbilt will present his research and the role of literacy and numeracy in patients with diabetes and obesity during the lunch hour. Dr. Rothman has been the Principal Investigator on over $35 million in extramural funding and has authored over 100 manuscripts. He is currently the Principal Investigator on several NIH funded studies addressing literacy and health communication in obesity prevention and diabetes.
Rounding out the day there will be rapid fire presentations that will provide information about health literacy research activities in Alabama and you will hear from other states about the risks and rewards when organization a health literacy initiative.
