Position Description

North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) ED - Emergency Department for a nursing job in Tupelo, Mississippi.

**Consultive:** 

* Provides consultation and education on Chargemaster/ charge capture issues to department personnel including interactions with physicians to insure timely completion of charts and interaction with medical records coders to insure information is available on a timely basis.

**Customer Service:** 

* Serves as resource to departmental personnel in regard to the development and structure of their chargemaster. Institute processes to insure accurate and compliant billing of services and perform periodic departmental charge audits to insure processes are working correctly.

**Liaison:**  

* Serves as the liaison between departments such as MIS, Patient Accounting, and Director of Reimbursement, Legal, Auditing**.**

**Reports:**

* Identifies and reports to the department manager issues related to regulatory changes and requirements that affects the department’s chargemaster.

* Ability to read and interpret medical record documentation
* Assigns diagnostic and procedural Hard codes for ER.
* Ensures accuracy and be very detailed orientated.
* Provide statistical information.
* Validate all ER charges, 90,000 per year. Hard code each chart.
* Review every ER chart for completeness.
* Knowledge of medical terminology. (extensive)


**Requirements:**

* This position requires an Associate’s  Degree in financial/accounting , HIS, or certificate in health-related field.
* Candidates must present a clear understanding of the healthcare setting and  its terminology. One year experience as an employee of NMMS preferred.
* Presentation and education skills should be evident as well as the ability to converse with physicians, department heads, and other personnel on a clinical and financial level.
* The employee must have the ability and knowledge to skillfully utilize various computer programs such as Excel and WordPerfect.
